The only thing Matthew knows about the division, is to avoid it at all costs. Which he most likely wont do.

Because I'm too lazy to write it out

He's not stupid. Not at all, really. Matthew is a brilliant man, his major problem is hes oblivious, gullible and naive. It's not his fault he enjoys talking with everyone and believes everything they say. It, after all, is not right to question ones knowledge. Matt is not one to judge someone based upon appearance. He is quiet and pretty reserved, though will open up quickly to others, which may not be the best on his behalf. He enjoys good jokes, snow make him smile, and, like any good teenager, knows how to party (a partial lie; he knows how to get drunk and smoke weed).

Matt was born in le town of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He lived there for the pre-school years of his live, then moved to British Colombia at the age of 6 with his father. In 1942, his father was forced to join the war. Matt had no choice but to live with an aunt he rarely spoke to, a few towns away. His mother was out of the picture; always had been, always will be - something Matt grew up with, and was never bothered by it. 'Mom left Dad, 'cause he's a whore' is what he would tell people when asked, ending it off with a shrug. Even thought this was true, Matt was always happiest when his father came home after work. The war now prevented this method of happiness, meaning Matthew had to look for other things to make him happy every day. All of his efforts went towards his school work and making good impressions on teachers, resulting in his ticket out of BC and into Hong Kong.

At first, Matthew was nervous about going to a whole new city - no - a whole new country, but now the thought merely excites him. Not being able to speak a word of Chinese, this will be a little difficult, but English is the second most spoken language, surely someone will help him, right? Matthew was here for school, he had to remind himself, and not for fun and games! His offer to go on an exchange program to Hong Kong was something he just couldn't pass up.

After the long flights and busy airports, the young Canadian wanted nothing more than to head to his flat and sleep for the next 48 hours. He showed the address he had written down in a notepad to the taxi driver, and within the hour he was at his new home, half asleep by the end of the ride. Grabbing the bag on his lap, his suitcase from the trunk, Matt was half way up the stairs to the inside of the residence, when a second taxi pulled up in the spot where his own taxi had been moments ago. The man that emerged from the cab was no other than his new roommate. There was a picture, somewhere in his bag, but that was unimportant.

Matthew smiled at the other, turned his back on him and headed upstairs to their room. 'He hardly has any belongings with him,' he remarked 'He better not take my stuff. And he better sleep early or I'll throws his toothbrush in the toilet...' This was definitely going to be an exciting year.

(I suppose I should put it somewhere, and that somewhere happens to be here.)
Matthew found out of the division shortly after he found out about his powers. He spoke with a specialist while still in Québec (meaning before he moved to BC) and from there, things happened, resulting in the little knowledge of the Division. All Matthew was told is that he should stay away from them, and run if they were to ever get a hold of him. That is all he was told, the division was bad, and you shouldn't talk to them. It was all he needed to know, at the age of five. Only problem is, later encounters with the Division results in ignorant behaviour and shitty situations.
